Jeremy and Heather Dhondy, who won the Mixed Teams title in Antalya in partnership with Lilo and Matilda Poplilov, were one of only two pairs to bid to the excellent contract of 4. Jeremy’s double on the second round (where some would play a support double) showed extra values.

West cashed two top hearts against Heather, and then switched to his singleton club. Heather finessed in spades and ended up with ten tricks.

Elsewhere one pair bid to 3, making four, and the other five pairs played in part scores in diamonds. The other table where 4 was bid featured in the prize for the Best Defence.
