When his partner bid 4§ , Charlsen's hand improved significantly, partner now being marked with spade shortage. With nothing to cue bid and red-suit bids being unattractive, he improvised a Four Spade bid. This led easily to Six Clubs, and there were no problems in the play.
The club slam was bid at a couple of other tables but this was considered to be definitely the most convincing auction.
