Some pairs missed a slam, some went off in 6H. The key to the Jones auction was agreeing spades as trumps rather than hearts and using Blackwood for them. Daffyd Jones knew that 6NT was virtually guaranteed. It had been bid at other tables, but not with the degree of certainy found here.

The 2002 prize for best bid hand at The Lederer Memorial trophy goes to Gary Jones and Daffyd Jones (Wales).
