The LMBA is the county bridge association primarily serving Greater London. We complement the EBU in the provision of support services and assistance to our members and their bridge clubs.

We run county duplicate bridge tournaments for the benefit of our LMBA members. In addition, due to our unique position in the capital, we welcome many members of the adjoining Home County Bridge Associations to our events. We continue to host occasional 'prestige' International tournaments such as 'The Lederer' and we run the 'London Trophy' for Sports Clubs in the Home Counties, a large but friendly Teams of 4 knock out tournament designed for players fairly new to duplicate.

We produce two copies of 'MetroNews' each year which details London-run events. We have a Youth Officer assisting the development of the game amongst our young players

Membership of the LMBA entitles you to play in EBU tournaments, represent London in National events and have your say in how the EBU and LMBA are run.

The English Bridge Union

LMBA members are automatically members of the EBU. You receive six copies a year of English Bridge, a high quality, colour magazine packed with members news and views, articles on bidding and play, county, national and international news, bridge holidays and much more.

You can play in county and national events and competitions, both near your home and further afield.

You can participate in the Master Point scheme and achieve a career ranking which will improve as you earn more points. Just 200 Local Points gets you on the first rung of the ladder.

You can join the members-only EBU Online Bridge Club and play against friends from the comfort of your own home.

EBU Services

The EBU trains bridge teachers who are the main recruiters of new players

The EBU provides support for clubs, including training for club directors who are generally the main organisers of club bridge.

The EBU invests in the future by promoting the learning of bridge in schools and universities.

The EBU Bridge Shop provides a sensible and stable price structure for club stationery and playing accessories such as bidding boxes, boards and playing cards.

The EBU publishes a range of magazines from English bridge to the Club and County Newsletters, as well as having a web site.

The EBU and its County Associations such as LMBA organise and stage many tournaments annually, ranging from competitions you can play in your own home through to prestige internationals.

Your national representatives lobby parliament for changes in the law to enable duplicate bridge to be officially recognised as a sport with the ensuing benefits.
